The food was delicious! The drinks were great. Our waitress was extremely friendly and our food came out fast and hot. Very clean place, lots of TVs playing sports. Just a good sports bar vibe.

Decided to try this resyon the basis of Yelp reviews while traveling through the area. Construction made getting into the building a little hairy, but once inside,we found it met expectations. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. There was a good sized crowd, most in the area where college football was being televised. Pretty wide selection of bar-type food on the menu. We ordered chicken and waffles and a Cobb salad with iced tea. The chicken was fresh, tender and crispy. It consisted of two sugar waffles, each topped with a chicken tender. The Cobb salad was fresh, crisp and topped with a very generous amount of tender white meat chicken bacon and blue cheese crumbles. Competitive pricing, friendly and attentive service. Very clean place. They have an outdoor patio that looked inviting.

It's everything we expected and more. Everything about this place showed it was a major part of the fabric of the neighborhood. Great local spot with large portions at amazing prices. There are a lot of people bustling around. Service was very fast and friendly. This was our second time and it didn't disappoint. It will be a regular spot for us as well.

The other day, I was invited by a good friend of mine to attend the Roanoke Valley Sister Cities' Annual Dinner at Colket Hall at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. It was my very first time visiting Roanoke College, and I was very impressed by their buildings and landscape. And across the street from the college, I saw a sign for the Mac and Bob's Restaurant and was very attractive with the building and its location. So much so that I vowed to return real soon to visit it and experience dining there. So today, I asked a friend of mine to join me for an early dinner there. As we arrived at the restaurant's parking lot, we were surprised to see on their sign on the parking lot, in small print: "FREE PARKING WHILE DINING WITH US." What a pleasant surprise. As we got out of the car and walked over to the entrance, I loved the use of red bricks in the structure of the building, and the combination of large windows on the front of the restaurant and above on the cathedral ceiling of one of the dining areas of the restaurant. As we entered, a friendly young man greeted us and led us to our booth. The atmosphere was so pleasant, and the inside distribution of dining areas and bar area were amazingly designed. Our server Bailey greeted us and made us feel at home while not only taking our order but exhibiting attention to detail by asking us if we wanted our salad with our sandwich or before. My friend and I both ordered the Augustino Sub. The ingredients of which you can read from my photo of the menu were fresh and plentiful, and the bread was fresh and magnificently toasted, which provided an extraordinary dining experience. My house salad with Blue Cheese dressing was also delicious and plentiful. Our server came by at the right times, and the timing was perfect in bringing out the food and filling up our glasses of ice water. For dessert, we ordered the Ultimate Chocolate Cake, which sounded delicious when we read the menu but looked and tasted even better. Just look at the photos I took of them, and you'll be able to see for yourself. On my way back from the restroom, I was able to see the outdoor courtyard with fireplace and bar and say hello to the manager whom I recognized from his picture on the Restaurant's website, which by the way, was superb. This restaurant that was founded in 1980 and has been voted Salem's Best Restaurant since 1998 is Amazingly as current today as it has been throughout the years. And when you include the best music and songs from throughout the years that were played in the background it made for an extraordinary dining experience that I will never forget and will definitely return for more.

Returned to Mac N' Bobs recently with my dad for lunch while we were in Salem. I came here for the first time about a month ago with my dad and we were both more than satisfied with our experience. So when we were back in Salem, we knew we had to return with a doubt! The service is on point here. It is very friendly, personable, accommodating, and welcoming. The restaurant has a great vibe about it, with plenty of sports memorabilia from around the area. It is clean, with a nice variety of seating. We were quite hungry and ended up ordering 2 appetizers to split, before our entrees! Even our waiter doubted our ability to finish all the food. To start, we ordered the fried mushrooms and large pretzel. The mushrooms were plentiful and came with a horseradish dipping sauce. They were fried to perfection and the mushrooms still had a juiciness to them. The pretzel was massive and heavenly. Served with their AMAZING beer cheese and spicy brown mustard, this was a great appetizer. The pretzel itself had a slight butteriness to it and was baked to perfection. After our appetizers, which were large enough to be entrees, we each ordered a sandwich. My dad went with the Reuben and steak fries. While I was considering either the pesto chicken sandwich or the chicken avocado BLT. I inquired about which one our server recommended and she told me she knew without doubt and I would just have to see. I ended up receiving the grilled chicken avocado BLT, and man was it good. The bread wasn't too heavy, the grilled chicken had a nice char to it and wasn't dry. There was a nice balance between the bacon to avocado ratio and the basil aioli enhanced the sandwich. My dad's Reuben was also really, really good. It had tons of meat and was super flavorful. And of course, the steak fries were fried to perfection, yum! We spontaneously ended up ordering dessert. Our server was more than shocked with the amount of food we already had put away. We ended our meal with the brownie ice cream sundae. The brownie wasn't super heavy and the vanilla ice cream was rich. Nothing too special, but not disappointing either. Overall, we had another great experience at Mac N' Bobs. Our server was really great, she had a nice personality and joked with us. Everything we ordered we were satisfied with and really liked. We love coming here and look forward to the opportunity to return whenever we are in Salem.

This is one of my favorite spots in the Salem and Roanoke area. Great local spot with a large diverse menu, great service, and really impressive beer taps. I had the Katie salad for lunch and it was excellent. Great local sports bar vibes

Sat out on the patio which has tons of seating on a spring evening. I was able try a couple of beers before choosing one. Good selection of local/regional beers on tap. Heavy on the IPAs but a nice selection of other things too. Tried the small calzone (still more food than I could eat!) and had both marinara and ranch on the side for dipping - while not particularly exciting, it was solid food after a day of traveling and hiking. My waitress was lovely and attentive. I really appreciated the great service as I was traveling solo. I would stop by again if I stayed in Salem.

Good experience- we'll be back. A lot bigger than it looks. Tons of seating & tons of tvs to watch the game. Service was friendly & fast. Food was good. Fish & chips - fish was greasy (press on coating, grease pools). Dip that comes with fish is delicious! Meatloaf was good - too much gravy on mashed potatoes (ask for it on the side).
